Plant a Seed, Read

Children (birth - entering grade 6)

June 22ND - August 15th

We’re growing readers all summer long with the Plant a Seed, Read Summer Reading Club! Designed for children entering grades K–6 and kids ages 2–5, this program celebrates stories, imagination, and discovery while encouraging children to nurture a lifelong love of reading.

Our youngest readers, from birth to age two, have a special club just for them: Little Sprouts! Through reading, singing, clapping, bouncing, and playing together, Little Sprouts helps families build early literacy skills from the very beginning.

The goal of the summer reading club is to develop a habit of reading EVERY day this summer for FUN! All types of books are encouraged, including e-books and audiobooks. Children may read independently or listen to books read aloud. Choose from over 50,000 books in the Children’s Department.

Use the Plant a Seed, Read Reading Calendar to track your daily reading from June 22 through August 15. The Reading Calendar can be printed at home from the link below or picked up in the Children’s Department. Follow the instructions in the calendar to record the days you have read and your reading activities. Once you complete seven days of reading, bring your booklet to the library to pick up your Plant a Seed, Read t-shirt (while supplies last). Earn up to six rewards throughout the summer!

Visit the Library Calendar to find reading activities and programs for the whole family.
