Planning for the Future at WTML

In July 2025, WTML began work on a new Strategic Plan, a roadmap that will guide our goals, services, and priorities for the next several years. Strategic planning helps us step back from our daily routines to look at the big picture, and to help us reflect: - What is the role of the Library in the community? - What are we doing well? - What are we missing? - What does our community need from us now, and what do we think it will need in the future? - How can we best fulfill our mission? The Strategic Plan will directly shape how we allocate resources, develop programs, improve services, and enhance our space. We plan to complete the project by early 2026.
A Strategic Planning Committee has been established to complete this project, a team of staff members from across the organization as well as the Library Director and the Chair of the Library Board. The committee is working with consultants from the Connecticut Library Consortium as part of a Strategic Planning Cohort, where WTML joins five libraries from around the state to work with experts who bring years of experience and expertise to the process and will provide training and guidance throughout. A key aspect of the creation of the plan is listening to members of our community - As part of this process, the Strategic Planning Committee will consult with members of the Library staff, the Library Board, and the Glastonbury Community via Community Conversations, interactive exhibits at the library, and a Community Survey.
