35th Annual Preschool Art Show
The Children’s Department is excited to host the 35th Annual Preschool Art Show this March. The show, which includes works of art from daycare centers, nursery schools and preschools throughout Glastonbury, is a Library tradition that we look forward to each year. We are expecting more than 700 works to exhibit this year. In addition to showcasing the colorful creations of little hands, this exhibition emphasizes the crucial role that artistic expression plays in the lives of preschoolers. |

Art provides preschoolers with a means to express themselves and communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Engaging in art activities helps develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It stimulates cognitive development by encouraging observation, decision-making, and problem-solving. When children plan their artwork or experiment with colors and shapes, they're actively engaging their brains, forming connections, and honing their analytical skills. Completing an art project, whether it's a simple finger painting or a complex collage, gives children a sense of accomplishment. Displaying their creations in a public setting like a preschool art show boosts their confidence and self-esteem, fostering a positive self-image. Celebrating and encouraging artistic expression in preschoolers is not only beneficial but essential for their overall growth and development. |
