WTML Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary
Glastonbury is joining communities nationwide in celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026, and Welles-Turner Memorial Library is proud to be a part of the Town’s yearlong festivities. Throughout the year, the Library will offer special programs and events for all ages to explore history, community, and connection, and we’ll also highlight this milestone through a themed annual reading challenge to honor the stories that shaped our nation. See below for ways to get involved in our celebrations at WTML and town-wide! |

Programs
Stars & Stamps Challenge
Collect a stamp at each America’s 250th event you attend at WTML in 2026. After at least four stamps (we encourage you to collect even more!), return your stamp sheet to the Reference Desk at WTML to receive an America’s 250th keychain and be entered into a drawing for an America’s 250th swag bag. Submit by 5 p.m. on December 31, 2026.

2026 Glastonbury Reading Challenge
WTML is teaming up again with our neighbors at River Bend Bookshop to host the 2026 Glastonbury Reading Challenge!
What is it?
Think of this challenge not as a competition, but as an opportunity to explore stories you might not pick up on your own. Choose books in any format you like, including print, eBooks, or audiobooks, and complete the prompts in whatever order works for you. With 24 unique prompts, you can easily pace yourself at about two books per month. Each title can only be used for one prompt.
What do I win?
Every finisher will receive a commemorative prize to celebrate their achievement (along with bragging rights and the satisfaction of a job well done). Plus, one lucky reader age 13 or older will win a $50 gift certificate to River Bend Bookshop. To be entered in the raffle, return this completed form to WTML by 5 p.m. on December 31, 2026. One entry per person. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
